On March 31, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives H.E. Mr. Kong Xianhua met with a delegation from the Energy Department of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment of the Maldives, which is scheduled to visit China for a study tour.

The Maldivian side briefed on the Maldives’ energy policies and vision for energy conservation and efficiency enhancement, expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for offering this valuable opportunity, and voiced hope to learn from China’s policies, practices and advanced experience in promoting energy conservation, and to strengthen cooperation between China and the Maldives in relevant fields.
Ambassador Kong noted that China attaches great importance to energy issues. The 15th Five-Year Plan has explicitly set forth the goal of moving faster to develop a new type of energy system. China and the Maldives enjoy broad potential for cooperation in the field of renewable energy. China is willing to enhance experience exchanges with the Maldives, promote Chinese enterprises to invest in renewable energy projects in the Maldives, and support the Maldives in advancing sustainable development.
The delegation will attend a five-day study program at the China National Institute of Standardization.
