On April 22, 2026, Consul & Head of Post Li Xiaoyan of Chinese Consulate in Laoag visited Mountain Province. Li met with Hon. Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Vice Governor Jose Dominguez, several provincial board members, and key heads of provincial government departments. The two sides had extensive exchanges on expanding cooperation between Chinese provinces and Mountain Province in areas such as agriculture, tourism, education, and infrastructure.

Gov. Lacwasan and other officials warmly welcomed Consul Li as the first Chinese Head of Post to visit Mountain Province. They expressed their willingness to maintain close communication and coordination with the Consulate, learn from China’s modern agricultural technologies and high-tech innovations, and strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation between Mountain Province and Chinese localities.
