Diplomats from the Chinese Embassy in Fiji Hold Friendly Interaction with Faculty and Students of the University of the South Pacific

On April 28, 2026, diplomats from the Chinese Embassy in Fiji visited the University of the South Pacific (USP) for friendly interaction, and held a lecture on "Chinese Modernization: New Opportunities for China-Fiji Cooperation". More than 70 people, including Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Wang Yuan and other diplomats from the Chinese Embassy, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Head of Graduate School of Business of the USP Professor Gurmeet Singh, and representatives of faculty and students of the USP attended the event.

Wang Yuan mainly introduced achievements of Chinese modernization, China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and China's policy on Pacific Island Countries (PICs), and expressed the hope that China and PICs will uphold their comprehensive strategic partnership that features mutual respect and common development, to expand pragmatic cooperation in various fields for a more promising future.

In the talanoa session, representatives of faculty and students of the USP thanked China for assisting Fiji and other PICs, stressed that more people want to understand and learn from China, and expected to carry out more exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side.
