Chinese Ambassador to Somalia Wang Yu Meets With President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud

On 20th May, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, met with H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Ambassador Wang said that the current China-Somalia relationship is maintaining a sound momentum of development. China believes that Somaliland is an inalienable part of Somalia’s territory, firmly supports Somalia’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity and opposes any move to split Somalia’s territory. Under the guidance of important consensus reached by the two heads of state, China would like to work with Somalia to keep on consolidating political mutual trust, enhancing exchanges at all levels, deepening practical cooperation in various areas, making contributions to the national rebuilding and development of Somalia. 

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud conveyed sincere appreciation for China’s support to Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and national development. He reaffirmed that Somalia adheres to the one-China principle, recognizes that the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, and Somalia opposes any form of “Taiwan independence”. He said that Somalia is ready to deepen cooperation with China in various areas, bringing more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.
