On August 6, H.E. Mme. Ambassador Jiang Xiaoyan met with Minister Erdjan Demir in charge of integration and implementation of strategy for inclusion of Roma 2022-2030.

Ambassador Jiang noted that China is a unified multi-ethnic country, where all ethnic groups have developed close bonds through exchanges, interactions and integration, contributing to the formation and development of the Chinese nation as a community. President Xi Jinping has stressed that not a single ethnic group should be left behind in the process of modernization.

Ambassador Jiang stressed that China has formulated and implemented the Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law. Through series of measures including strengthening legal safeguards, improving mechanisms for integrated regional development, implementing differentiated regional support policies, and enhancing paired assistance and east-west cooperation mechanisms, China has accelerated high-quality development in ethnic regions and steadily promoted common prosperity for all ethnic groups. She stated that China is willing to share experiences with North Macedonia and continue to provide support within its capacity to improve people’s livelihoods.

The two sides exchanged views on the challenges Roma people are faced with and measures to enhance capacity building.
