Han Zheng Meets with Indonesian President Joko Widodo

At the invitation of the Indonesian government, President Xi Jinping's special representative and Vice President Han Zheng traveled to Indonesia on October 19, 2024 to attend the inauguration of new Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to be held on October 20 and pay a visit to Indonesia. On the same day, Han Zheng met with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Jakarta.

Han Zheng conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to President Joko Widodo. Han Zheng said that the past 10 years have witnessed high-level development of China-Indonesia relations. President Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo have jointly led the continuous upgrading of China-Indonesia relations into a new era of building a community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Indonesia to carry forward the fine tradition of bilateral friendship and cooperation, deepen all-round strategic coordination, jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, ensure the smooth operation of major cooperation projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway, and continue to write a new chapter of solidarity, cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results. Han Zheng expressed the hope and belief that President Joko Widodo will, as always, show care and support for the development of bilateral relations and continue to contribute to carrying forward the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Joko Widodo asked Han Zheng to convey his sincere regards to President Xi Jinping and expressed thanks for President Xi Jinping's recent phone call with him. Joko Widodo said that in recent years, the comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China has been developing with sound momentum and bilateral cooperation has achieved fruitful results. Noting that the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway is a landmark cooperation project between the two countries and a symbol of bilateral friendship, he said Indonesia is willing to make joint efforts with China to continue to ensure the operation work of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway. He said Indonesia attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and expressed confidence that under the leadership of the new Indonesian government, bilateral relations will continue to be lifted to new levels.
