General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee To Lam Holds Welcome Ceremony for Xi Jinping

On April 14, 2025 local time, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping arrived in Hanoi for a state visit to Viet Nam. In the afternoon, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam held a grand welcome ceremony for Xi Jinping.

Hanoi in April is lush with greenery and full of vitality. At the square in front of the Presidential Palace, the Five-Starred Red Flag and the red flag with a five-pointed golden star fluttered in the wind. Over 200 Vietnamese children waved flags to warmly welcome Xi Jinping's visit.

When Xi Jinping arrived by car, To Lam warmly greeted him as he disembarked from the car, and Vietnamese children presented flowers to Xi Jinping. As Xi Jinping and To Lam stepped onto the stand together, the military band played the national anthems of China and Viet Nam, followed by a 21-gun salute. Accompanied by To Lam, Xi Jinping inspected the guard of honor. The general secretaries of the two parties shook hands and exchanged greetings with each other's accompanying personnel one by one and then watched the march-past together.

After the welcome ceremony, Xi Jinping and To Lam walked together to the headquarters of the CPV Central Committee for talks. Hundreds of Vietnamese people along the way waved the flags of the two parties and two countries and expressed their warmest welcome to Xi Jinping. Xi Jinping waved to the welcoming crowd.

Cai Qi, Wang Yi and Wang Xiaohong, among others, were present.
