On April 23, 2025, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met in Beijing with a delegation from Japan's Komeito Party, led by its leader Tetsuo Saito.
Wang Huning said that in November last year, President Xi Jinping had a successful meeting with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba in Lima and unanimously agreed to comprehensively advance the strategic relationship of mutual benefit between China and Japan. The two countries should jointly implement the important common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries, keep honoring their commitments, develop the right perception, promote win-win cooperation, and join hands to meet challenges. The ruling parties of the two countries should actively play a political leading role in building a China-Japan relationship fit for the new era. The National Committee of the CPPCC is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with relevant Japanese institutions.
Tetsuo Saito said, the Komeito Party has long adhered to and carried forward the spirit of friendship between Japan and China, and is willing to promote the implementation of the common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries through dialogue and exchanges between the ruling parties. The Komeito Party is willing to enhance the foundation of public support for bilateral relations, promote exchanges in such fields as business, tourism and youth as well as at the sub-national level, and enable the people of both countries to enjoy the fruits of the improvement and development of Japan-China relations.
