On the afternoon of May 13, 2025, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in Beijing.
Zhao Leji stated that in November last year, President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Brazil, and together with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, elevated the positioning of bilateral relationship to a China-Brazil community with a shared future for a more just world and a more sustainable planet, opening a new chapter in China-Brazil relations. China is willing to strengthen strategic coordination with Brazil and continuously enrich the contemporary significance and strategic connotation of the China-Brazil community with a shared future. The NPC of China is willing to work with the National Congress of Brazil to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, utilize the exchange mechanism as a platform, carry out exchanges on legislative and supervisory experience, and provide a legal guarantee for promoting practical cooperation between the two countries.
Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that close legislative exchanges are crucial for enhancing Brazil-China friendship. Brazil is willing to strengthen exchanges with China on governance experience, uphold multilateralism and free trade, oppose protectionism, jointly address climate change, and advance the building of a Brazil-China community with a shared future.
