On the morning of June 24, 2025, President Xi Jinping met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who is on an official visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Xi Jinping congratulated Lawrence Wong on his re-election. Xi Jinping noted that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. The two sides have consistently upheld mutual understanding and mutual respect, which has provided a solid foundation for the steady and sound development of China-Singapore relations. China-Singapore cooperation aligns with the direction and priorities of China's development at various stages and has delivered substantial outcomes such as the Suzhou Industrial Park. These achievements have not only contributed significantly to the modernization endeavors of both countries, but also set a benchmark for cooperation among regional nations. The two sides should draw on the experience and wisdom from the development process of bilateral relations, inherit and carry forward fine traditions, and enable the tree of China-Singapore friendship to thrive and bear abundant fruits.

Xi Jinping stressed that China and Singapore should stay firmly committed to the general direction of bilateral friendship, and always view and develop bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective to ensure that the relationship stays on the right course and maintains strong momentum. The two sides should consolidate the political foundation of China-Singapore friendship, support each other's core interests and major concerns, and enhance political mutual trust to a higher level to serve the development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side welcomes Singapore's continued deep participation in China's development. The two sides should further advance Belt and Road cooperation, create landmark achievements in such areas as the digital economy, green development, and artificial intelligence, and upgrade major projects, so as to write a new chapter in high-quality cooperation. The two sides should encourage frequent mutual visits between the two peoples, and deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation to further ingrain China-Singapore friendship in the hearts of the people. The Chinese side has always held the view that peace, development, cooperation and mutual benefit are the unstoppable trend of the times. The world must not resurrect hegemonism or be dragged back to the law of the jungle. China is ready to work with Singapore to stand on the right side of history and the side of fairness and justice, jointly advocate for an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, and steer the world toward a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress.

Lawrence Wong said that Singapore and China enjoy a time-honored friendship and the two sides have always respected and trusted each other. Bilateral relations have maintained steady growth with close cooperation. Successive Singaporean leaders have all attached great importance to relations with China. He said that China is the first country outside ASEAN he has visited since taking office again. Singapore will continue to uphold the one-China policy and oppose "Taiwan independence". As the two countries jointly celebrate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Singapore is willing to fully leverage the opportunities brought by China's prosperity and development, expand bilateral trade and investment, deepen cooperation in such areas as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and new energy, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote greater development of Singapore-China relations. In the face of a volatile international situation, Singapore is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China on regional and multilateral platforms, and jointly safeguard multilateralism and the international order. He expressed the belief that China will surely play a more important role in world peace.

Wang Yi was present at the meeting.
