On the morning of June 26, 2025, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council attended and addressed the opening ceremony of the 10th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors in Beijing.

Li Qiang said that when the AIIB was launched, President Xi Jinping proposed making the AIIB a new type of professional, efficient, and clean multilateral development bank. Over the past decade, with the joint support and efforts of all its members, the AIIB has remained true to its founding mission while forging ahead with innovation. Its membership has expanded from 57 to 110, and its undertakings have continued to develop and grow, establishing a good image of professionalism and pragmatism. This has injected fresh momentum into the common development of its members, pioneered new models of global financial governance, and set a new example for international multilateral cooperation.

Li Qiang put forward three hopes for the future development of the AIIB. First, in the face of the global economic growth dilemma, the AIIB should offer stronger support for its members to enhance their development capabilities. The AIIB should offer high-quality, low-cost financing that caters to the members' varied development needs, facilitate the sharing of expertise and experience, and help strengthen their endogenous growth momentum. Second, in the face of a reshaping global economic and trade landscape, the AIIB should promote international dialogue, exchanges, and cooperation on a broader scale. The AIIB should uphold open regionalism, advance connectivity and communication among countries in Asia and the world at large, and strengthen synergy with the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative. Third, in addressing global governance challenges, the AIIB should better leverage its role as a new type of multilateral platform. The AIIB needs to consistently uphold the principle of extensive consultation and joint contribution for shared benefit, act as a truly international, rule-based and high-standard institution, constantly optimize its internal governance structure, strengthen multilateral decision-making rules, and develop new products and services, so as to help build a more just and equitable global governance system and continuously increase all members' participation and sense of fulfillment.

Li Qiang pointed out that China's economy has maintained a positive momentum despite external shocks this year. China's economy will remain a thriving land in the global economy. The expansion and upgrading of the massive Chinese market will keep generating significant dividends, offering greater trade and investment opportunities for other countries. "Made in China" is turning to "Innovated in China" at a faster pace, with the business ecosystem rapidly evolving, continuously unlocking entirely new growth drivers. China will remain firmly committed to expanding high-standard opening up, and continue to deeply integrate into the world economy, creating new development opportunities for countries worldwide. China is ready to work with all parties to support the AIIB in embarking on a new decade of glory and making greater contributions to promoting the sustainable development of its members and advancing the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Wu Zhenglong attended the opening ceremony.

The Annual Meeting, themed "Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity", was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Finance, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, and the AIIB. Approximately 2,500 people attended the opening ceremony, including AIIB President Jin Liqun, board governors from AIIB members, heads of major global multilateral and bilateral development institutions, leaders of key financial institutions and the private sector, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
