On September 9, 2025, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un on the 77th anniversary of the founding of the DPRK.
Xi Jinping pointed out that over the past 77 years, the WPK has united and led the DPRK people to forge ahead unremittingly, promoting the continuous development of all socialist undertakings in the DPRK. In recent years, under the leadership of the WPK headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un, the DPRK people have strived hard to fulfill the goals and tasks set out at the 8th Congress of the WPK, and have achieved many gratifying accomplishments. Xi Jinping expressed confidence that the DPRK people will greet the convening of the 9th Congress of the WPK with high morale and outstanding achievements, and open a new chapter in the development of socialism with DPRK characteristics.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China and the DPRK are traditional friendly neighbors linked by mountains and rivers. Maintaining, consolidating, and developing China-DPRK relations has always been an unwavering strategic guideline of the CPC and the Chinese government. Recently, General Secretary Kim Jong Un came to China for the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. During the visit, President Xi Jinping met with General Secretary Kim Jong Un again, jointly mapping out the blueprint for the development of relations between the two parties and the two countries. China is ready to enhance strategic communication and strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the DPRK, and work together to advance China-DPRK friendship and the cause of socialism of both countries, so as to make greater contributions to peace and development in the region and the world at large.
