President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy and Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli Attends the Opening Ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum

On November 1, 2025, at the invitation of the government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy and Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli attended the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the capital of Egypt. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Sun Yeli and had a brief conversation with him before the opening ceremony.

Sun Yeli conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and presented President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Sun Yeli said that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Egypt relations and is ready to work with Egypt to implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, advance practical cooperation, and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to continuously enrich the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi asked Sun Yeli to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping and expressed heartfelt thanks for President Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and for dispatching a special envoy to attend the opening ceremony. He said that Egypt is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in various fields and work for the greater development of bilateral relations.
