On the morning of November 12, 2025, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, and Queen Letizia, who is accompanying King Felipe VI of Spain on his state visit to China, visited the Beijing Demonstration Center of Service for Persons with Disabilities.

Peng Liyuan and Letizia listened to the introduction of the disability service projects of the Demonstration Center and visited a themed exhibition on the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games. They then came to the exhibition hall of high-tech disability support products and the non-profit reading area, where they learned about the application of disability assistance products, reading activities for children with disabilities, and the development of barrier-free facilities in China. Peng Liyuan and Letizia had a cordial exchange with persons with disabilities who were engaged in baking skills training, handicraft making and painting. They also visited children with disabilities who were undergoing rehabilitation training. They enjoyed a song, Songs and Smiles, sung by the children with visual disabilities in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Peng Liyuan said that the cause of persons with disabilities requires joint efforts and support from all parties to help them better integrate into society. China and Spain can further enhance exchanges and cooperation to help realize the dreams of persons with disabilities. Letizia inquired in detail about the development of China's cause for persons with disabilities, particularly the employment of women with disabilities, and spoke highly of the achievements China has made in this regard.
