On November 13, 2025, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Comorian President Azali Assoumani to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping noted that China was the first country to establish diplomatic relations with the Comoros. Over the past half century, no matter how the international landscape has evolved, China-Comoros relations have always maintained sound and steady growth. In recent years, the two countries have continued to consolidate political mutual trust, achieved fruitful results in exchanges and cooperation across various fields, and set a fine example of equality, solidarity and mutual assistance between countries of different sizes. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Comoros relations and is ready to work with President Azali Assoumani to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to carry forward the traditional friendship, advance the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, keep enriching the China-Comoros strategic partnership, and make greater contributions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.

Azali Assoumani said that over the 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the Comoros and China have upheld mutual respect and mutual trust, always stood together, and forged a strong and enduring friendship. The fruitful results of bilateral cooperation have profoundly changed the lives of the Comorian people. In today's world marked by changes and turbulence, the principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and win-win cooperation advocated by President Xi Jinping have inspired Global South countries, including the Comoros.
