
On the afternoon of February 4, 2026, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People with Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung, who is on a special visit to China as the Special Envoy of General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee To Lam.
Xi Jinping noted that the CPC and the CPV have maintained the fine tradition of reciprocal notification of their respective major political agendas, a practice that embodies the unique and friendly bond of China and Viet Nam as comrades and brothers, as well as their high-level political mutual trust. Xi Jinping said that during his recent phone talks with General Secretary To Lam, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on further advancing the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance and reached important common understandings. Xi Jinping expressed the belief that under the strong leadership of the CPV Central Committee headed by Comrade To Lam, the Party, the country, and the people of Viet Nam will successfully accomplish the goals and tasks set at the 14th National Congress of the CPV.
Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Viet Nam have achieved flourishing growth in all aspects of socialist development, demonstrating the vitality and vigor of the socialist system to the world. China will, as always, attach great importance to the development of China-Viet Nam relations. China is willing to work with Viet Nam to firmly steer the future of socialism, uphold the 16-word guideline of "long-term stability, future orientation, good-neighborly friendship and comprehensive cooperation" and the spirit of "good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners", act in line with the overarching goals characterized by "six mores", implement high-level common understandings, continuously carry forward traditional friendship, deepen exchanges at all levels and cooperation in all fields, properly manage differences, and move forward with great strides in building a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future.
Le Hoai Trung conveyed a reply letter of gratitude from General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee To Lam to General Secretary Xi Jinping, along with a verbal message. Le Hoai Trung thanked General Secretary Xi Jinping for taking the time to meet with him, and stated that the 14th National Congress of the CPV has ushered in a new era for Viet Nam's national development. He said that Viet Nam consistently regards consolidating and developing relations with China as the top priority of its foreign policy. Viet Nam is willing to work hand in hand with China on the new journey of development, follow the guidance of the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, further reinforce the political, material, and public support foundations, elevate Viet Nam-China relations to new heights, and bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
