
On May 6, 2026, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met in Beijing with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman.
Wang Huning stated that the historic state visit to Bangladesh by President Xi Jinping in 2016 has charted the course for the development of China-Bangladesh relations. China will continue to develop friendly relations with Bangladesh on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, strengthen high-level exchanges between the two countries, firmly support each other, deepen cooperation across various fields, and promote the in-depth and substantive development of the China-Bangladesh comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to better benefit the two peoples. The CPPCC National Committee is ready to make positive contributions in this regard.
Khalilur Rahman noted that China is a true friend of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has always prioritized China in its foreign policy, firmly upholding the one‑China principle, maintaining that UNGA Resolution 2758 is indisputable, and steadfastly supporting China’s national reunification. He expressed Bangladesh’s expectation to carry forward historical friendship with China, strengthen practical cooperation, and elevate Bangladesh-China relations to a higher level.
