Xi Jinping Exchanges Congratulatory Messages with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari on the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Pakistan Diplomatic Relations

On May 21, 2026, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping noted that China and Pakistan are good friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners enjoying geographical proximity and shared future. Over the past 75 years, no matter how the international landscape has evolved, China-Pakistan friendship has remained rock-solid and unbreakable. The two countries have maintained a high level of political mutual trust, practical cooperation, security cooperation and international coordination, setting a fine example of state-to-state relations.

Xi Jinping stressed that he highly values the development of China-Pakistan relations and stands ready to work with President Asif Ali Zardari to take the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity, strengthen strategic communication, renew traditional friendship, deepen all-round cooperation, and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era. This will deliver more benefits to the two peoples, and contribute to regional peace and development.

Asif Ali Zardari noted that the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership has grown stronger over time and has become a steadfast pillar for regional peace, stability and development. Pakistan highly appreciates the profound and far-reaching global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, and cherishes President Xi Jinping’s unwavering commitment to deepening Pakistan-China relations and advancing the building of an even closer Pakistan-China community with a shared future in the new era. Pakistan sincerely appreciates China for its firm support in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and promoting economic and social development, and will continue to support China on issues concerning China’s core interests, further elevating Pakistan-China friendship to new heights.

Also on May 21, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif exchanged congratulations. Li Qiang stated that China stands ready to work with Pakistan to strengthen solidarity and coordination and actively advance the construction of the upgraded Version 2.0 of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to promote the continuous development of the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.

Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan-China relations are based on mutual trust, sovereign equality, and a shared pursuit of peace and development. Pakistan is firmly committed to promoting the high-quality development of the CPEC and constantly exploring new areas of Pakistan-China cooperation.
