In the evening of June 8, 2026, local time, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan attended the welcoming banquet held by General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un at the Mokran House in Pyongyang.

Along the route to the Mokran House, enthusiastic crowds dressed in traditional ethnic attire lined the streets to warmly welcome President Xi Jinping’s motorcade. Inside the banquet hall of the Mokran House, the venue was beautifully decorated with colorful lights and blooming flowers, creating a festive and jubilant atmosphere.

At around 7 pm, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan arrived at the Mokran House, where they were warmly greeted by Kim Jong Un and his wife Ri Sol Ju. The spouses of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries posed together for an amicable group photo. Leaders of the Party and state of the DPRK lined up to extend their warmest welcome and highest respect.

Afterwards, Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan entered the grand banquet hall accompanied by Kim Jong Un and Ri Sol Ju. All present rose to their feet in welcome.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and the DPRK, linked by mountains and rivers and sharing a common future, have seen their traditional friendship passed down across generations and grow ever stronger over time through the test of the evolving international landscape. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, and the China-DPRK relationship stands at a new historical starting point. Xi Jinping said that he has reached important consensus with General Secretary Kim Jong Un during his visit. From the strategic perspective of the future and destiny of socialism, both leaders have agreed to seize the general trend of the times, respond to the shared aspirations of the two peoples, strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen strategic communication, expand practical cooperation, enhance people-to-people bonds, promote the high-level development of China-DPRK relations, jointly open up brighter prospects for the socialist cause of both countries, and contribute to the continuous progress of human society.

Xi Jinping stated that the successful convening of the Ninth Congress of the WPK this year has made strategic plans and major arrangements for the long-term development of the Party and the country’s cause, ushering in a new period of comprehensive development of the DPRK’s socialist cause.
