On the morning of June 26, 2026, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President Xi Jinping met with President of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the Senate of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping congratulated the Cambodian People’s Party on the 75th anniversary of its founding, and wished the Cambodian People’s Party continued success in leading Cambodia to break new ground in national development and national rejuvenation. Xi Jinping noted that during his state visit to Cambodia last April, together with Cambodian leaders, they opened a new chapter in building an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. Over the past year and more, mutual trust between the two countries has kept growing, cooperation across all sectors has deepened steadily, and the time-honored China-Cambodia friendship has taken on new meaning for the new era. China has always taken Cambodia as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy. We firmly support Cambodia in safeguarding national sovereignty and security and pursuing a development path suited to its national conditions. China stands ready to work with Cambodia to uphold peace, pursue common development and create shared prosperity, steadily advance the building of the China-Cambodia community with a shared future, and set an example for building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Xi Jinping stressed that complex and profound changes are unfolding in the international and regional landscape. China and Cambodia should stand side by side to shoulder responsibilities amid shifting dynamics and uphold the right path amid chaos, injecting greater stability into regional peace and development. First, consolidate the foundation of strategic mutual trust. The two sides should draw strength from history, build on past achievements and reach new heights of mutual trust. China is ready to deepen inter-party exchanges with Cambodia, strengthen experience sharing in party and state governance, and jointly enhance the governing capacity of the two parties. Second, stay firmly on the path of development and rejuvenation. The two sides should deliver tangible progress on the “Industrial Development Corridor” and the “Fish and Rice Corridor”, fully unlock the potential of the China-Cambodia Free Trade Agreement, ensure the outcomes of practical cooperation better benefit the people’s livelihood, and continuously consolidate the public support underpinning China-Cambodia friendship. Third, safeguard long-term stability and security of each other’s countries. China stands ready to establish a security partnership with Cambodia. China highly appreciates Cambodia’s resolve and actions to eradicate telecom cyber fraud, and is ready to sustain joint efforts with Cambodia to completely root out this malignant social scourge. Fourth, set an example for strategic coordination. China appreciates Cambodia’s consistent adherence to the one-China principle and its early support for major concepts and initiatives proposed by China. China will strengthen coordination and collaboration with Cambodia to better uphold the fundamental momentum of good-neighborliness and the overarching direction of win-win cooperation in the region.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he fully agrees with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s positive remarks on the iron-clad friendship between Cambodia and China and the joint efforts to build an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era. He extended sincere congratulations on China’s remarkable development achievements under the sound leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, which have made important contributions to the stability and development of all countries across the world, especially Global South nations including Cambodia. He thanked China for supporting the Cambodian Government and the Cambodian People’s Party in choosing a development path suited to Cambodia’s national conditions, advancing Cambodia’s economic and social progress and safeguarding its core national interests. No matter how the international landscape evolves, Cambodia will always uphold friendship with China, firmly adhere to the one-China principle, and resolutely back all efforts China makes to achieve complete national reunification and oppose all forms of separatist acts of “Taiwan independence”. Cambodia stands ready to align its Pentagonal Strategy with the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China and deepen cooperation in economy, security, national defense, people-to-people exchanges and other fields. Eradicating telecom cyber fraud crimes is a top priority on Cambodia’s current agenda, and Cambodia is ready to maintain close law-enforcement cooperation with China to combat such crimes. Cambodia firmly supports and is ready to jointly implement the four global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping with China, making positive contributions to peace and prosperity in the region and the wider world. The Cambodian People’s Party has maintained close cooperation with the Communist Party of China for a long time. Cambodia is ready to earnestly implement the new Memorandum of Understanding on Exchanges and Cooperation between the two Parties to boost the development of the Cambodia-China community with a shared future.

Wang Yi attended the meeting.
