On September 18, 2026, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met separately in Beijing with Speaker of the Senate of Egypt Essam El Din Ahmed Mohamed Farid.

During the meeting, Zhao Leji stated that earlier this month, President Xi Jinping paid a successful and historic visit to Egypt, during which the two heads of state agreed to advance the building of a China-Egypt community with a shared future, charting a new blueprint for the development of bilateral relations under the new circumstances. China stands ready to work with Egypt to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, carry forward traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly create a better future for China-Egypt relations. The NPC of China is willing to strengthen exchanges with the Parliament of Egypt at all levels and across multiple fields, carry out in-depth exchanges on experience in advancing democracy and the rule of law, and contribute to the building of a China-Egypt community with a shared future.

Essam El Din Ahmed Mohamed Farid stated that the Egypt-China comprehensive strategic partnership has achieved practical results across various fields. The Egyptian side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to work with China to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state. The Egyptian Senate is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the NPC of China to provide support for the development of both countries.

During the meeting, Wang Huning stated that not long ago, President Xi Jinping paid a successful and historic visit to Egypt, during which the two heads of state reached broad consensus, further charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. China stands ready to work with Egypt to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, carry forward traditional friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and advance the building of a China-Egypt community with a shared future. The National Committee of the CPPCC is willing to further strengthen exchanges and interactions with the Egyptian side and contribute to promoting the development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership.

Essam El Din Ahmed Mohamed Farid stated that over the past 70 years, Egypt-China relations have maintained healthy and stable development, with fruitful cooperation outcomes. Egypt firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to actively participate in the Belt and Road cooperation, and strengthen cooperation with China in such fields as economy and trade, science and technology. The Egyptian Senate is willing to strengthen exchanges with the National Committee of the CPPCC, actively participate in events such as the China Economic and Social Forum, and contribute to the economic and social development of the two countries.
