On September 1, 2015, President Xi Jinping met with President Omar Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir of Sudan at the Great Hall of the People.

President Xi Jinping welcomed Omar al-Bashir's visit to China to attend the commemorations marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War. Xi Jinping pointed out that since the establishment of the diplomatic relations 56 years ago, China and Sudan have always understood and supported each other. The bilateral practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results. The two countries will issue a joint statement on the establishment of strategic partnership, which is another milestone in the history of the China-Sudan relations. China values China-Sudan traditional friendship and is willing to work with Sudan to promote China-Sudan strategic partnership for constant development. Both sides should consolidate strategic mutual trust, and continue to render firm support to each other on issues concerning each other's major concerns. Both sides should deepen cooperation in fields of oil, infrastructure construction, agriculture, renewable energy and high technology, and strengthen exchanges in fields such as culture, education, public health and tourism. China is willing to continue to provide intellectual support for Sudan's economic and social development.

Omar al-Bashir said that he is glad to visit China and celebrate with the Chinese people the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War. Sudan and China enjoy a solid basis of bilateral relations and constant progress in bilateral practical cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. Sudan hopes to expand the fields of bilateral cooperation, appreciates China's "Belt and Road" initiative and is willing to actively participate in relevant cooperation.

After the meeting, the two heads of state jointly signed the "Joint Statement Between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of the Sudan on the Establishment of Strategic Partnership", and witnessed the signing of cooperative documents in the areas of science and technology.
