On November 30 local time, President Xi Jinping met in Paris with President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Brazil are important cooperative and development partners to each other. China attaches great importance to its relations with Brazil and is willing to, together with Brazil, continuously deepen political and strategic mutual trust, promote communication and cooperation in various areas, and push the comprehensive strategic partnership for sustained and in-depth progress. The two sides should expand industrial investment cooperation in the fields of energy and resources, agriculture, infrastructure and manufacturing, boost bilateral trade for constant and steady growth, enhance financial cooperation, and make effective use of the BRICS New Development Bank as well as a package of financing arrangements between China and Latin America so as to provide financial support for promoting China-Brazil trade and investment. Bilateral coordination in major global affairs should also be intensified.

Xi Jinping stressed that both as major developing countries and members of the BASIC group, China and Brazil enjoy extensive common interests on climate change. The two sides should work closely and utilize their respective advantages and influence to promote all parties to meet each other halfway to help yield a comprehensive, balanced, strong and legally binding outcome from the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris and safeguard the unity and interests of developing countries.

Dilma Rousseff noted that she agrees with President Xi Jinping's assessment of Brazil-China relations and is happy to see the positive progress achieved in major infrastructure cooperation projects such as transportation and port construction. Both sides can also expand cooperation on agriculture and logistics. Brazil and China have maintained close communication and coordination within important multilateral institutional frameworks and on major international issues in recent years. Brazil will render full support to China in hosting the G20 Summit in 2016.

Dilma Rousseff expressed that Brazil and China, both as developing countries, share similar historical circumstances and common interests on the climate change issue. Brazil stands ready to enhance coordination and cooperation with China at the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris and promote all parties to meet each other halfway in the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities, so as to achieve a goal conforming to the common interests of the international community and push international relations towards a more balanced direction.
