Wang Yi: China Has Willingness and Conditions to Be Most Ideal Cooperative Partner of Africa in Its Industrialization Process
Updated: December 06, 2015 10:53

On December 5 local time, after the conclusion of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Foreign Minister Wang Yi jointly met the press with Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane of South Africa, expressing that China has willingness and conditions to be Africa's most ideal cooperative partner in its industrialization process.

Wang Yi expressed that last century, African countries realized political independence after decades of hard struggles. However, Africa still needs to obtain economic independence as soon as possible before it can really stand firm in the world arena. An important mark of economic independence of a country is its own industrial system and capacity for independent development. African countries proposed to accelerate the process of industrialization and change the disadvantageous situation featuring reliance on transaction of primary commodity and restraint of the international market over the years. As a good friend of Africa, China fully understands and firmly supports it.

Wang Yi pointed out that China has willingness and conditions to be Africa's most ideal cooperative partner in its industrialization process. The Chinese side has the political willingness and actual ability to do so. After decades of industrialization, China boasts a great deal of high-quality production capacity, mature technology and essential financing capability. China's production capacity and technology in particular can meet the development demands of African countries. Actually, both sides have launched some pilot programs of cooperation in industrialization. During this summit, both China and Africa agreed to make cooperation in this field the first of the ten major cooperation plans. We have every confidence in the prospects of China-Africa cooperation in industrialization.
