On the afternoon of September 19, 2016 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the hotel where he stayed in New York with Prime Minister John Key of New Zealand.

Li Keqiang said that the current China-New Zealand relations maintain a momentum of healthy development. The two countries enjoy smooth economic and trade cooperation and keep sound communication on international and regional affairs. China is ready to join efforts with New Zealand to enhance political mutual trust, maintain high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation in economy, trade and other fields, strengthen cooperation in judicature and law enforcement, intensify communication and coordination in multilateral affairs, and promote a sustained, sound and stable development of China-New Zealand relations.

John Key said that New Zealand-China relations enjoy smooth development and frequent high-level exchanges. The New Zealand side attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to strengthen bilateral cooperation in economy trade, judicature, law enforcement and all other fields, so as to push bilateral relations for greater progress. As rotating presidency of the UN Security Council, New Zealand appreciates the constructive role played by China in international affairs.

Both sides also exchanged views on the Syrian issue and the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue. Li Keqiang expounded China's principles and position.
