Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of Pakistan

On the afternoon of November 30, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi of Pakistan at the hotel where he stayed in Sochi.

Li Keqiang expressed that China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners. Bilateral cooperation in various fields has maintained sound development momentum, and positive progress has been made since the launching of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) more than four years ago. China is willing to, together with the Pakistani side, well implement the major projects on infrastructure construction, and steadily push forward cooperation in production capacity. China will hold high political sincerity in exploring the building of a free trade zone with Pakistan to promote balanced development of bilateral trade and advance companies of both countries to strengthen cooperation. China thanks Pakistan for providing safety assurance to Chinese companies and citizens in Pakistan, and expects Pakistan to continue heightening security measures so as to create a favorable external environment for bilateral economic cooperation. China stands ready to continue carrying out cooperation with Pakistan in security and defense affairs, so as to make contributions to regional peace and stability.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China welcomes Pakistan to attend the meeting of Heads of Government (Prime Ministers) for the first time as a full member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and is willing to continue intensifying coordination and communication with Pakistan within the SCO and other multilateral organizations and on regional affairs.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi expressed that Pakistan and China enjoy a profound traditional friendship and close cooperation. Both countries are all-weather strategic cooperative partners who share common goals and support each other. Pakistan stands ready to, together with China, maintain high-level exchanges, deepen cooperation in various fields and continuously inject new impetus into the development of bilateral relations. At the moment, the construction of the CPEC is going smoothly. Pakistan will continue advancing the construction of the CPEC with full strength and take measures to ensure the safety for it. Pakistan stands ready to strengthen cooperation with China within the SCO framework. It is believed that China will further advance the development of the SCO as the SCO rotating presidency.
