Your Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Good evening!

As we gather here today to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, on behalf of the Embassy of China in Malaysia, I would like to extend my warmest welcome to all the distinguished guests attending the reception, and express my sincere gratitude to friends who have long cared for China’s development and supported the friendship between China and Malaysia.

Seventy-six years of winds and rains, seventy-six years of fruits and gains. Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese people have united as one and worked hard, achieving remarkable achievements admired by the whole world. China is now marching forward in great strides on its new journey of advancing the cause of building China into a great country on all fronts and realizing great national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization. This has been a 76-year journey from scarcity to moderate prosperity, and now toward the vision of common prosperity. China has built the world’s largest education, health-care, and social security systems. Life expectancy has risen from 35 years in 1949 to 79 years today. We have lifted nearly 800 million people out of poverty, marking a historic eradication of absolute poverty.

This has been a 76-year journey from peaceful coexistence to active integration and now toward a shared future. China’s foreign policy evolved from upholding independence, actively pursuing peaceful coexistence with other countries, to fostering a stable international environment, and deeply integrating into the global system. It then further advanced to proposing the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity. In this spirit, China has been working with partner countries to promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and has proposed and advanced the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative. Together, these efforts have built broad consensus and strong synergy for unity, development, security and progress in civilizations.

Ladies and gentlemen,

This year marks the final year of China’s 14th Five-Year Plan. During the 14th Five-Year period, China’s economic growth is expected to exceed 35 trillion yuan, equivalent to the GDP of the world’s third-largest economy. China’s investment in R&D is growing at a faster pace, breakthroughs in core technologies are speeding up, emerging industries are expanding more rapidly, and the vitality of talent and innovation is being unleashed with greater vigor. China’s contribution to global economic growth remains at around 30 percent, making it the most stable, reliable, and positive force for world development.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. With tremendous national sacrifice, the Chinese people made significant contributions to safeguarding world peace. We must always remember history, honor the fallen heroes, cherish peace, and create a better future. In a community with a shared future, the pursuit of a better life is a shared aspiration of all nations. China will continue to share development opportunities with countries around the world, including Malaysia, and work together to create a brighter future.

This year marks the beginning of the new “Golden 50 Years” of China-Malaysia relations. In April, President Xi Jinping made a historic state visit to Malaysia, during which both sides agreed to build a high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future, which elevated the relationship between the two countries to a new height. Following this, Premier Li Qiang attended the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit in Malaysia, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited China for the “Shanghai Cooperation Organization Plus” Meeting and the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. These exchanges have injected strong impetus into the in-depth and substantive development of the high-level strategic China-Malaysia community with a shared future. In the first eight months of this year, bilateral trade between China and Malaysia reached 131.84 billion U.S. dollars and Chinese mainland tourist visits to Malaysia hit a historic high of 3.28 million.

As a new chapter begins, we continue to write the story of renewed brilliance and shared prosperity. Let’s carry forward the traditional friendship between China and Malaysia, strengthen strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation, and bring more benefits to the peoples of China and Malaysia. Together, let us make greater contributions to regional peace, stability, development, and prosperity!

Thank you!
