Zeng Yongquan

(1902.5.15-1996.11.2) Vice Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People's Republic of China (1957.2-1963.8, 1964.2-1965.11)

Born in Xindu, Sichuan Province, Zong Yongquan studied in the Soviet Union in his early years. Before the founding of the People's Republic, he served for a long period of time in the army, as Director General of the Bureau of Edition and Translation of the Military Commission of the Central Committee of the CPC and President of Yan'an Russian Literature School concurrently, and Commander of Shijiazhuang Garrison. After the founding of People's Republic of China, he successively served as Minister-Counsellor in the Chinese Embassy in the Soviet Union (1949.10-1952), Ambassador to Poland (1952.9-1955.1), Ambassador to German Democratic Republic (1955.4-1957.5), and Ambassador to Romania (1966.3-1966.10). In February 1979, he was appointed Consultant to Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was member of the Standing Committee of the 11th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, and member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the 6th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
