Born in Qian County, Shaanxi Province, Wang Bingnan went to Japan to study in 1929, and later on pursued study in Germany. During his study in Germany, he served as Secretary of the Group of the Chinese Language of the Communist Party of Germany, Director of the Oriental Department of the League against Imperialism, and Chairman of the League against Imperialism of the European Chinese. From 1936, when he returned to China, to 1949, he served as Alternate Member of the South Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and head of the Group of Foreign Affairs, Second Deputy Secretary and spokesman concurrently of the Committee of Foreign Affairs of the Delegation in Nanjing of the CPC, and Deputy Director General of the Group of Foreign Affairs of the Central Committee of the CPC. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he assisted Zhou Enlai in the preparation of organizing Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the period when he was in Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served consecutively as Director General of the General Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1949-1955), Assistant Foreign Minister (1955.1-1955.2), and Chinese Ambassador to Poland (1955.3 –1964.4). During the Geneva Conference in 1954, he was Secretary General of the Chinese Delegation. At the ambassadorial post in Poland, he was concurrently the Chief Representative of China in the nine-year-long Sino-US Ambassadorial Talks. In August 1975, he was appointed Chairman and Secretary of the Party group of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In 1976 he led the delegation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries to go to Japan to honor the 20th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Sino-Japanese Association of Cultural Exchanges, and paid a visit to the country. In spring 1978, after 16 years of suspension of exchanges, he led the delegation of the CPAFFC to visit India and was received by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In 12 years or so from 1975 to 1986, he received in person nearly 100 official or non-official delegations to China and arranged an array of Chinese organizations to visit other countries. He visited over 40 countries of the five continents as head of delegation. In recognition of his contribution to the friendly exchanges between the peoples of different countries, medals were bestowed on him by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Government of Poland, and the city of Vienna of Austria. In May 1985, in response to the calling of the UN General Assembly, representatives of the Chinese people's organizations formed the Chinese Organizing Committee of the Year of International Peace with Wang Bingnan as Chairman. In 1986, the Year of International Peace, they conducted a series of activities concerning the protection of the world peace. He was representative of the 12th National Party Congress, representative of the 1st and 3rd National People's Congress, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the 5th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, member of the Standing Committee of the 6thNational People's Congress. He wrote a book entitled "Retrospect of the 9-year Talks between China and the US"
