On September 17, 2026, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi attended the reception celebrating the 216th anniversary of Chile’s independence hosted by the Embassy of Chile in China and delivered a speech.

Qiu Xiaoqi noted that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries, China-Chile relations have maintained sound and steady development at a high level, and the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Chile has yielded fruitful results. China stands ready to work with Chile hand in hand on the path of development and revitalization and elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Chile to new heights.

Ambassador of Chile to China Alfonso Silva spoke highly of Chile-China relations. He stressed that Chile’s new government is ready to further strengthen bilateral high-level exchanges, deepen practical cooperation, and work with China to uphold multilateralism.
