On October 28, 2026, Director-General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Hou Yanqi traveled upon invitation to Quang Ninh, Viet Nam, for a working meeting with Director of the National Boundary Commission of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Dang Thang.

The two sides had a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of views on land boundary and maritime issues, and agreed to implement the important common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, make good use of the border and maritime dialogue and cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, strengthen communication and coordination, properly manage differences, advance practical cooperation in various fields on land and at sea, and enhance coordination and cooperation on boundary and maritime affairs at the international and regional levels.

Before the meeting, Director-General Hou Yanqi and Director Nguyen Dang Thang jointly inspected the Dongxing-Mong Cai border crossing.
