On August 26, 2026, Ambassador of China to Cyprus Yang Yundong paid a courtesy call on Chairman of the Nicosia District Local Government Organisation of Cyprus Constantinos Yiorkadjis.

Ambassador Yang noted that subnational cooperation is an important pillar underpinning the China-Cyprus strategic partnership. The Chinese side is ready to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with the Nicosia District, so as to share development opportunities of the Chinese modernization, and support the sustained and sound growth of bilateral ties.

Chairman Yiorkadjis welcomed Ambassador Yang for taking the new post and recalled with pleasure his previous trip to China. He expressed hope to expand cooperation with China and contribute to the development of Cyprus-China relations.
