On August 25, Ambassador Wu Guangrong paid a courtesy call on Hon. Monica Musenero Masanza, Uganda’s newly appointed Minister of Energy and Mineral Development. Counsellor Wang Jianxun of the Chinese Embassy, among others, attended the meeting. The two sides extended congratulations to each other on their respective appointments and exchanged views on implementing the important common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries and deepening cooperation in the energy and mining sectors.

The two sides agreed that cooperation between China and Uganda in energy and mining has been pragmatic, steady and highly complementary, with great potential and promising prospects. They expressed their readiness to further strengthen policy communication and business-to-business engagement, deepen cooperation in oil and gas development, power infrastructure, renewable energy, local processing and value addition, and coordination across the entire industrial chain. Both sides will work together to advance bilateral cooperation in the energy and mineral sectors, achieve more positive outcomes, and inject new impetus into Uganda’s sustainable development and economic and social transformation, bringing greater benefits and well-being to the peoples of both countries.
