Recently, President Xi Jinping replied to a letter from young students from 10 U.S. universities who were in China for a China-U.S. youth exchange program.

Xi Jinping said he was delighted to learn that the students had a pleasant and memorable journey in China. He was pleased to hear that the students, in their letter, expressed their affection for Chinese civilization, their expectations for friendly cooperation between China and the United States, and their willingness to serve as envoys of friendship across the Pacific Ocean.

Xi Jinping stressed that Chinese and American youth share the same planet and shoulder the mission of the times together. He expressed the hope that the students would join the vast number of young people in both countries to become inheritors, defenders, and promoters of friendly cooperation between China and the United States, work together to foster mutual understanding and affinity between the two peoples and the steady and sustained development of bilateral relations, and contribute the strength of youth to building a better world.

Recently, nearly 100 young students from 10 U.S. universities, including Harvard University, wrote to President Xi Jinping, sharing their gains and reflections from participating in the “Future Makers 2026: China-U.S. Youth Tour for a Shared Asia-Pacific Future” and other thematic exchange programs, and expressing their willingness to contribute to China-U.S. friendship.
