On November 21, 2016 local time, together with President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski of Peru and his wife Mme. Nancy Lange, President Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan attended the closing ceremony of China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Year in Lima and visited the exhibition "Long Distance Separates No Bosom Friends - Treasures of China".

When arriving at the National Museum of Archeology, Anthropology and History of Peru, Xi Jinping and Mme. Peng Liyuan were warmly received by President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and his wife. On their way to the hall where the closing ceremony was held, the two heads of state and their wives visited a photo exhibition "A River of Civilization – Mutual Learning between China and Peru" and enjoyed the Chinese folk song "Song of Yimeng Mountain" and a Peruvian folk song "El Cóndor Pasa" by the China National Traditional Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra of Peru.

The two heads of state delivered speeches at the closing ceremony respectively.

Xi Jinping pointed out that during my visit to Latin America in July 2014, I proposed the initiative to host the 2016 China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Year, which is actively responded by governments and peoples of Latin America. The rich cultures and arts of China and Latin America bloom like splendid flowers on each other's vast land, pushing the mutual learning between the Chinese and Latin American civilizations to a new high.

Xi Jinping stressed that cultural exchanges between China and Latin America enjoy a time-honored history. In recent years, bilateral cultural exchanges are flourishing. The two peoples, though separated by long distance, enjoy connected hearts and deep friendship. Both sides boast long histories and splendid civilizations, have suffered from foreign intrusion and social unrest, and are committed to the great cause of developing economy and improving people's livelihood now. Common dream and common pursuit have both sides closely linked. Economic development and cultural prosperity are both needed to achieve our great dreams. On the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, we should continue to deepen cultural dialogues between China and Latin America so as to make mutual learning of civilizations become a bridge for enhancing bilateral friendship, a driving force for advancing the progress of human society and a bond of promoting world peace.

Xi Jinping pointed out that cultural relations are an important part of China-Latin America overall diplomatic relations. We should take the 2016 China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Year as a new start, firmly grasp this historical opportunity of China-Latin America overall cooperation, effectively learn from each other's cultural achievements as well as make the civilizations of China and Latin America a model of harmonious coexistence and mutual promotion among different civilizations, so as to add more gorgeous colors to the diverse world cultural landscape.

Pedro Pablo Kuczynski said that both as ancient civilizations with thousands years of cultures and histories, Peru and China have been learning from each other for a long time. In recent years, cultural exchanges between both sides have become more frequent. The Peruvian side is willing to strengthen cultural exchanges with China to better facilitate the development of bilateral relations.

After the closing ceremony, Xi Jinping, Mme. Peng Liyuan, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and his wife jointly visited the exhibition "Long Distance Separates No Bosom Friends - Treasures of China".

The exhibition "Long Distance Separates No Bosom Friends-Treasures of China" showcased a total of 121 items including Chinese jade, Terracotta Warriors and Horses, Tang San Cai (tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tang Dynasty) and porcelain that condensed 5000 years of essence of the Chinese civilization.
