On March 18, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong and Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Asad Majeed Khan co-chaired the third round of Diplomatic Consultations at Vice Foreign Ministerial Level between China and Pakistan in Beijing.

Sun Weidong said that China and Pakistan are good partners, good neighbors, good friends, and good brothers. No matter how the international and regional situations evolve, China will, as always, prioritize Pakistan in its neighborhood diplomacy, firmly support the national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Pakistan, firmly support Pakistan in its economic and social development, and firmly support Pakistan in playing a greater role in international and regional affairs. China is ready to work with Pakistan to follow the guidance of the important common understandings between leaders of the two countries, to deepen strategic communication and exchanges at all levels, promote the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), expand all-round cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, industries, agriculture, finance, science and technology, society and people's livelihood, culture and people-to-people exchanges,  strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and multilateral affairs, defend the common interests of China and Pakistan in the face of changes unseen in a century, uphold true multilateralism and defend international fairness and justice.

Asad Majeed Khan said that the friendly relations with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's diplomatic policies. The Pakistan-China friendship enjoys a strong and unbreakable foundation. Pakistan will, as always, remain firmly committed to the one-China policy, and supports China in safeguarding its core interests. Pakistan is ready to work with China to maintain close institutional exchanges, strengthen bilateral and multilateral strategic communication and coordination, and defend major concerns and common interests of the two sides. Pakistan looks forward to promoting the improvement and upgrade of the CPEC development, and expanding investment, economic and trade cooperation, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges, to fully unleash the potential and dividends of bilateral relations.

The two sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations, practical cooperation and issues of mutual interest and concern, and reached a wide range of common understandings. Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of counter-terrorism and security, so as to create a favorable environment for friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two countries and make greater contributions to regional peace and stability.
