Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs of the Chinese Government Qian Bo Attends the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting

On November 10, 2023, Special Envoy for Pacific Island Countries Affairs of the Chinese Government Qian Bo attended the 52nd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Avarua, the Cook Islands, and delivered remarks.

Qian Bo elaborated on China's "four full respects" policy toward Pacific Island countries, and emphasized that Chinese modernization and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation will bring major opportunities for the Pacific Island countries to implement the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. China stands ready to promote the synergy of development strategies with Pacific Island countries and accelerate the building of an even closer community with a shared future between the two sides. Qian Bo also announced China's new measures to support the development of Pacific Island countries, which were warmly welcomed and highly praised by all participants.

During his stay in the Cook Islands, Qian Bo also had friendly exchanges with leaders of Pacific Island countries including the Federated States of Micronesia, Tonga, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu.
