Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong Meets with Executive Director of the Mekong Institute Suriyan Vichitlekarn

On January 12, 2024, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong met with Executive Director of the Mekong Institute Suriyan Vichitlekarn.

Nong Rong said that China attaches great importance to bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Mekong countries. Guided by President Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy and the guiding principles of the Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs, China will uphold the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind and the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness in its neighborhood diplomacy, and work with Mekong countries to jointly build a community with a shared future of peace and prosperity among Mekong-Lancang countries. China appreciates the Mekong Institute for its positive contributions to regional development and will continue to support its participation in regional cooperation to deliver benefits to the people of all countries.

Suriyan Vichitlekarn said that the Mekong Institute fully supports the vision of a community with a shared future for mankind. He spoke highly of the important role played by the Lancang-Mekong cooperation in regional development, and thanked China for its long-term and strong support to the Mekong Institute. The Mekong Institute is willing to enhance coordination and cooperation with China, synergize the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative and regional cooperation mechanisms, and contribute more wisdom and strength to regional cooperation.
