On June 24, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with Permanent Secretary of the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs Phongsavanh Sisoulath.

Chen Xiaodong said, under the strategic guidance of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, and General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, China-Laos bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. China-Laos Railway and other major projects under the Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries have achieved fruitful results, marking sustained and solid progress in the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Laos to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two parties and countries, jointly safeguard the safe and smooth development of Belt and Road cooperation between China and Laos, and push for more new achievements in bilateral practical cooperation.

Phongsavanh Sisoulath thanked China for its long-term support and assistance. He said, Laos is willing to continue to uphold the spirit of being a good neighbor, good friend, good comrade and good partner, make every effort to ensure the safe and steady progress of the Laos-China Belt and Road cooperation projects represented by the Laos-China Railway, and continue to enrich the Laos-China community with a shared future.
