Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Chef de Cabinet of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Earle Courtenay Rattray

On May 17, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Chef de Cabinet of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations Earle Courtenay Rattray, who is in China for a visit and the 10th Steering Committee meeting of the China-UN Peace and Development Fund. Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Fu Cong was present.

Miao Deyu said that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. China has always practiced true multilateralism and is ready to work with the international community to uphold the correct historical view of World War II and the post-war international order, safeguard the authority and status of the United Nations, and defend international fairness and justice. China supports necessary and reasonable reforms of the United Nations and calls for greater attention to and inclusion of the voices of the Global South. Over the past ten years since its establishment, the China-UN Peace and Development Fund has made significant contributions to supporting the work of the United Nations. China is ready to continue supporting the development of the Fund through concrete actions and contribute to the cause of global peace and development.

Earle Courtenay Rattray commended China as a pillar of multilateralism and fully acknowledged China's important role in global governance. He said that the cooperation between China and the United Nations under the China-UN Peace and Development Fund has yielded fruitful results, and the Secretariat of the United Nations is willing to work with China to further implement Fund projects effectively for the benefit of more countries.
