On June 20, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu attended the opening ceremony of the 7th China-Latin America and Caribbean Think Tank Forum and delivered a speech.
Miao Deyu stated that President Xi Jinping announced the launch of five programs for building a China-LAC community with a shared future at the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, charting the course for the development of China-LAC relations and injecting strong momentum into China-LAC cooperation. China is ready to work with Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries to pursue development goals, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, stay committed to mutual learning, consolidate the foundation of popular support, jointly promote peace, and expedite the implementation of the five programs, working together to build a closer China-LAC community with a shared future.
The LAC representative stated in the speech that the successful practice of Chinese modernization is a model for Latin American and Caribbean countries to learn from, and it also demonstrates the bright prospects of the China-LAC community with a shared future. The major initiatives for cooperation with LAC countries announced by President Xi Jinping provide important opportunities for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between LAC countries and China. LAC countries will actively respond and work together to implement these initiatives. The LAC side is willing to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields, including think tank exchanges, to promote the common development of LAC countries and China and enhance the well-being of the people from both sides.
This forum is hosted by the China Institute of International Studies, with the theme of "Working Together to Build a China-LAC Community with a Shared Future". It discussed topics such as China-LAC relations, the Global South, and Chinese modernization, and adopted relevant outcome documents. More than 120 participants attended the event, including representatives from think tanks and media in China and LAC countries, as well as diplomatic envoys of LAC countries to China.
