On July 17, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met upon request with South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Anna Thandi Moraka, who accompanied South African Deputy President Paul Shipokosa Mashatile to China for the Third China International Supply Chain Expo.
Miao Deyu stated that during the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) last year, the two heads of state announced the elevation of China-South Africa relations to an all-round strategic cooperative partnership in the new era, leading bilateral relations to a new historical starting point. China is ready to work with South Africa to translate the common understandings reached between the two heads of state into strong momentum for the steady and long-term development of China-South Africa relations, firmly safeguard each other's core interests, tap into the potential of practical cooperation, enhance coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as BRICS and the G20, and build a high-level China-South Africa community with a shared future.
Anna Thandi Moraka expressed gratitude for China's support in South Africa's economic and social development and its assumption of the role as the rotating presidency of the G20. She reiterated South Africa's firm commitment to the one-China principle, and expressed willingness to work with the Chinese side to deliver on the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, strengthen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade, investment, new energy, and vocational education and training, advance solidarity and cooperation among the Global South, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
