On July 17, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu, upon invitation, attended the reception celebrating the 215th anniversary of Colombia's independence hosted by the Embassy of Colombia in China and delivered a speech.

Miao Deyu stated that China and Colombia are good friends and partners who pursue win-win cooperation and common development. Over the 45 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, both sides have always upheld the principles of equality and mutual respect, and promoted the continuous advancement of bilateral relations. China is ready to work with Colombia to jointly deliver on the important common understandings reached between President Xi Jinping and President Gustavo Petro, promote the Belt and Road cooperation between China and Colombia to achieve more fruitful results, continuously enrich bilateral relations, and better benefit the people of both countries. Recently, the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum was successfully held, during which President Xi Jinping delivered an important address, announcing the launch of five programs which are Solidarity Program, Development Program, Civilization Program, Peace Program, and People-to-People Connectivity Program. Miao Deyu expressed the hope that Colombia, as the rotating presidency of CELAC, will continue contributing to the development of the China-CELAC Forum.

Ambassador of Colombia to China Sergio Cabrera Cárdenas said that the current Colombia-China relations are at their best in history, and Colombia's participation in the Belt and Road cooperation provides new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations. In today's world full of geopolitical challenges, Colombia not only sees China as a strategic partner but also as a reliable force in addressing global challenges. Colombia is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields, implement the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, and elevate the Colombia-China strategic partnership to a new level.
