On July 21, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu had a phone call with Director General of Political and Security Affairs of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France Frédéric Mondoloni at the latter's request, and they had an exchange of views with a focus on the Iranian nuclear issue.

Ma Zhaoxu emphasized that the Iranian nuclear issue should be resolved through political and diplomatic means, and that all parties should resume dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible to prevent the situation from escalating. Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy should be guaranteed. China is ready to continue to play a positive and constructive role in this regard.

China and France agreed to maintain close communication on the diplomatic resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue.
