On February 27, 2025, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi attended and addressed the reception held by the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in China to celebrate the 181st anniversary of the independence of the Dominican Republic.

On behalf of the Chinese government, Qiu Xiaoqi congratulated the Dominican Republic on the 181st anniversary of its independence and welcomed Ambassador Jose Julio GOMEZ BEATO to China to assume his new post. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic more than six years ago, bilateral relations have developed comprehensively and rapidly, with fruitful cooperation in various fields, showcasing vigorous vitality and broad prospects. China is ready to work with the Dominican Republic to continuously bring bilateral relations to new heights under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state.

Ambassador Jose Julio GOMEZ BEATO reviewed the achievements in the development of the relations between the Dominican Republic and China, reiterated that the Dominican Republic firmly abides by the one-China principle, and expressed willingness to deepen practical cooperation in various fields between the two sides and push bilateral relations to a higher level.
