From September 8 to 14, 2025, Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong visited Uzbekistan and traveled to Tajikistan to attend the consultations on the Afghan issue among the foreign ministries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States.

During the visit, Yue Xiaoyong met respectively with Special Representative Esmatullah Ergashev of Uzbekistan's President for Afghan Affairs and Special Representative Khisrav Sohibzoda for Afghanistan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan. They exchanged views on issues of common interest and concern.
