Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei Meets with Ambassador of Suriname to China Chong Pick Fung

On November 25, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei met with outgoing Ambassador of Suriname to China Chong Pick Fung.

Cai Wei expressed appreciation and gratitude for Ambassador Chong Pick Fung's contributions to advancing the development of China-Suriname relations during her tenure, and congratulated the Republic of Suriname on its 50th anniversary of independence this year. Cai Wei stated that next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Suriname. China is ready to work with Suriname to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, as well as the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, to promote new progress in the China-Suriname strategic cooperative partnership and better benefit the peoples of both countries.

Chong Pick Fung highly praised the positive achievements in Suriname-China relations in recent years, and expressed gratitude for China's strong support for Suriname's economic and social development, as well as the assistance provided by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in her performance of duties. She stated that after leaving office, she will continue to act as an envoy for Suriname-China friendship and work for the in-depth development of Suriname-China relations.
