Chinese Ambassador to Dominica Chu Maoming and Dominican President Co-attend the 2024 Chinese Government Scholarship Award Ceremony

On August 6, the 2024 Chinese Government Scholarship Award Ceremony was held at the Chinese Embassy. Her Excellency President Sylvanie Burton and Mr. Burton, along with His Excellency Ambassador Chu Maoming and Honorable Minister for Education Octavia Alfred, were in attendance. The ceremony was presided over by Honorable  Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of the Environment Darron Lloyd, with the participation of officials from relevant ministries, current and former scholarship recipients, representatives of students from Chinese universities visiting Dominica. Several local media covered the ceremony.

In his remarks, Ambassador Chu congratulated the recipients of this year's scholarships, offering a brief introduction to China's culture and history, development strategies, and modernization achievements. He encouraged the students to study diligently, explore China actively, and become the ambassadors of goodwill and friendship between the two countries.

Minister Octavia Alfred expressed the Government's commitment to education development and thanked China for once again providing Dominican students with the opportunity to receive world-class education. She encouraged the students to take advantages of this opportunity, study hard, and become pillars of national construction in the future.

Following the ceremony, President Sylvanie Burton and Ambassador Chu jointly awarded the admission letters to the scholarship recipients.
