On 6th November, H.E. Mr. Xiao Jianguo, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam attended Farmers and Fishermen Day 2024 Celebration, and had friendly exchanges with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. Ambassador Xiao also met with Chinese expert of Hybrid Rice Senior Expert Consultant in Brunei Darussalam.

Ambassador Xiao said that with the successful trial of high-yield hybrid rice assisted by China in October last year and new opportunities in agriculture and fisheries, the two sides are confident in upgrading and further advancing the strategic partnership.

The Minister and Permanent Secretary thanked China for its support and assistance to the development of agriculture and fisheries in Brunei, and hoped to further increase the cooperation between the two sides to achieve the goal of food self-sufficiency of Brunei.

Yuan Longping High-Tech Agriculture Co. Ltd. was honored with a Special Recognition Award from the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism for its contribution to the hybrid rice collaboration between China and Brunei during this celebration.
