Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Cui Aimin Delivers a Speech at Uppsala University

On October 9, 2024, Ambassador Cui Aimin delivered a speech at Uppsala University at the invitation of Uppsala Association of Foreign Affairs, and exchanged views with over 100 students.

Ambassador Cui elaborated on the strategic significance and global impact of China-Europe relations, emphasizing that China and Europe are partners, not rivals, and represent opportunities rather than threats to each other. He underscored China’s role as a staunch force for peace, stability and progress of the world. As China further deepens reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, it will create new opportunities and momentum for countries across the world, including Sweden. He expressed the hope that students could continue to follow China’s development, value China-Sweden friendship, and support the cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Cui also answered questions on a range of international and regional hotspot issues, including the Taiwan question, the South China Sea issue, China-Africa cooperation and the Ukraine crisis. A video highlighting the remarkable achievements made over the past 75 years since the founding of New China was shown. The communication was engaging and the atmosphere was warm.

The students said that the speech enriched their understanding of China and hoped to have an opportunity to visit the country in the future.
